Robert Scott Jr, Florida State

Pass Protection: Scott has the athleticism to keep him in any one on one matchup in pass protection and is comfortable in space. He has a good kickslide and can angle defenders out of the play. He needs to be more consistent in his technique, specifically in keeping his feet moving and combatting inside pass-rush moves as well as speed rushers.

Balance: Scott can get off-balanced when he reaches (largely from issues with moving his feet) and be susceptible to inside moves as a result. When the rusher goes across Scott’s face, he has a hard time staying in front and and maintaining his footing.

Hand Placement: Scott’s hands are solid when he’s able to square up his defender. However when he can’t square up the defender he can get wonky in where his hands latch on, leaving him more prone to holding calls.

Football IQ: Scott does well at identifying which defender to block in overload pre snap alignments from the defense. He’s also proficient in selling his own responsibilities, such as bluffing the trap block and instead turning and executing a seal. He can occasionally be a bit late off the ball

Power: In the run game, Scott is unable to unleash more power on his opponents, whether it’s stonewalling the defender and moving them wherever he wants or finishing blocks with a mean streak.

Anchor: Scott plays with a naturally wide base, however he too often loses leverage battles when challenged, resulting in him either reaching, taking unnecessary steps or standing straight up.

Flexibility: Scott’s a little stiff in his lower half in movements, especially once he’s set his feet.

Versatility: Scott played at both left tackle and right tackle in 2021. He has the size and athletic profile (6’5 312 pounds) to be used anywhere along the offensive line.

Movement Skills: A fluid mover who’s got some agility without being an elite athlete.

Footwork/Foot Speed: Scott has good foot speed and average footwork that’s hampered by his tendency to want to stop his feet at the point of contact.
