Route Running: Makes good use of head fakes to go along with his footwork. Attacks vertically with a post route, can win in the intermediate with in breakers and comebacks.
Blocking: Has the size to be an effective blocker. Mainly asked to stalk block in games watched.
Contested Catch Ability: Due to his ability to separate, contested catch isn’t an often used weapon. When he is in a contested situation the size and body control gives him the advantage. Can contort his body to attack the ball in the air while engaged with a defender.
Separation: Gains his separation at the top of the route stem. Has some suddenness and twitch to his movements. Sinks his hips well for a player listed at 6’5.
Ball Skills: Hands catcher, adjusts well to passes outside his frame and behind him as well as low passes.
Beating Press: Shows the necessary hand usage and play strength to play through contact at the LOS. Has a stutter step and a hop skip release. Could stand to add more to his release package.
YAC Ability: Strong runner after the catch. More tackle breaker than elusive. Quick transition to runner after the catch. Will fight for extra yards.
Ball Tracking: Can track downfield and adjust speed accordingly. Quick reactions on back shoulder throws. Adjusts well on fade routes.
Long Speed: Long strider with good acceleration. Eats up cushion and surprises flat footed defenders. Has catches of 50,51 and 69 yards on the 2021 season. Top end speed isn’t elite, but more than enough to consistently threaten vertically.
Versatility: Has reps as the boundary X opposite trips. Also as the Z in bunch and stacked formations.Shows upside to play all receiver positions.
Summary: AT Perry is a high upside player due to his route running ability at his size. Along with his vertical ability and run after catch threat, Perry has the potential to be a 3 level weapon.
