2023 BCS OT/iOL Scouting Report
Player: Anton Harrison
School: Oklahoma
Year: Junior
Games Watched: Iowa State 2022, Baylor 2022, Texas 2022
====================================================================
Pass Protection: Is ready for contact on his 2nd step in jump sets. Keeps hands a bit low, can be late with his punch. Has the core strength to absorb a blow when playing double underhook technique. Shows movement ability with his kick step on vertical sets.
Balance: Stops feet on contact and leans while engaged which leads him to be on the ground more than he should. Looks much more balanced when he stays square and maintains proper pad level.
Hand Placement: Will need development with hand placement. Hands often are low at the snap. Grabs the outside shoulder when engaged, which will draw flags at the next level.
Power: Shows good grip strength. When he locks on, he can control the defender. Shows some strength in the run game where he can create holes with vertical displacement. Against a Texas odd front he repeatedly took on the 4i and stood him straight up. Development in consistent play strength to move bodies instead of create stalemates will take his game to new levels.
Football IQ: Doesn’t chase on T/E-E/T, stays patient and let’s the looper come to him. Knows when to hand off rushers, and can ID the blitz to his side.
Anchor: Even though he may be late with his hands, still shows a natural ability and core strength to drop his weight and dig in. Can drop his anchor and withstand the long arm, bull rush speed to power etc. Can’t be moved if he is balanced with correct hand placement.
Flexibility: Bends at the waist. Doesn’t show much torque or hip rotation when turning the shoulders of a defender. When aiming for the hip on down blocks, doesn’t have the bend to throw a shoulder into the mid section.
Versatility: Has played all his reps at LT. One start at RT against UTEP in 2022. Has the physical ability to be successful at different positions, but versatility is pure projection with his current body of work.
Movement Skills: Shows good mobility getting out in space when running counter, power and screens. Accurate blocking on the move. Shows speed getting down field and doesn’t look labored when running.
Footwork/Foot Speed: Shows good foot speed to match the speed rush around the arc. Against Baylor did a good job getting outside to stop a delayed blitz. Will stop his feet on contact, looks much better driving his feet while engaged

Summary: Anton Harrison has the upside to be a long term starter at LT in the NFL. Developing his hand placement, balance and refining technique will be the key to his success. If Harrison is asked to play early on, I believe he would fare best in a balanced offensive attack with good usage of the quick passing game where he can be effective with his jump sets. His ability on the move make for an easy transition to zone or gap/power run schemes.
