I want to start with the player who impressed me the most on day one. Florida States’ Jermaine Johnson was the most dominant player on the football field during 1-vs-1 pass rush drills, 1-vs-1 run defense drills, and team periods.
His speed, bend, and general athletic profile really shined. In the clips above you get a good taste of how versatile Johnson’s wins were yesterday. He wins the first rep with a deadly spin move against Louisiana Lafayette’s offensive tackle Max Mitchell, and then he won the second rep with pure power.
Johnson got turned the corner a bunch of times in team drills and would’ve had a couple of sacks if he was allowed to hit the quarterbacks.
He came into the week as a potential first-round pick, and after day one, there is no doubt he’s one of the best players at the event.
