The Reese’s Senior Bowl is a golden opportunity for college prospects to show their talents to an audience of eager NFL scouts and fans. This is especially important for players who are from smaller conferences or lack pre-Senior Bowl hype.
Although Zion Johnson isn’t from a small conference by any means, he isn’t as well known amongst the general fan relative to some of his peers. However, this Boston College prospect is doing his part to stand out in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Defensive line vs offensive line drills is always a treat to watch from an NFL Draft perspective, especially this year with plenty of talent on both sides of the ball. Johnson has tested his might against some of the better defensive linemen in the country and so far, has come out clean.
What stood out to me so far in the early practices is Johnson’s ability to anchor in place versus the pass rush. His compact build at 6’2”, 312, and functional core strength give him a distinct advantage when facing opponents. Below is a play he made on day one of Senior Bowl practices where he matched up with Ohio State defensive tackle Haskell Garrett.
