2023 BCS CB Scouting Report
Player: Emmanuel Forbes
School: Mississippi State
Year: Junior
Games Watched: Alabama 2022, Georgia 2022, Ole Miss 2022
Man Coverage: Usually lines up playing off man. Has reps where he will press. Uses a 2 hand jam and shows physicality throughout the route.
Zone Coverage: Plays very well with eyes on the QB in zone. Shows good anticipation when relating to route concepts.
Reaction/Recovery: Quick and instinctive reactions. Will freelance at times. At his best when reacting to the action in front of him.
Long speed: Not a burner but has the necessary speed to play on the outside. True burners will give him trouble. Will grab and use physicality to keep from being run by on vertical routes.
Ball skills: Excellent ball skills. Locates the ball in the air. Highpoints the ball. Can play through the hands of the receiver to disrupt the pass. 19 INTs in 3 years.
Run Support: Gives good effort coming up to support the run. 6’0 180 wiry frame will limit his effectiveness as a force player.
COD Ability: Doesn’t have the most fluid lateral COD. Showed some lack of foot quickness when pressing in man coverage. Still has ability to flip hips and run vertically with receivers.
Awareness: Good awareness in zone coverage. Anticipates and recognizes routes when he has eyes on the QB in zone.
Tackling: Is a willing tackler. Looks to wrap up and deliver a blow. Lack of size and play strength will limit his effectiveness.
Physicality/Toughness: Doesn’t shy away from contact. Won’t hesitate to come up and make a tackle. Will need further development with play strength to ensure maximum effectiveness and durability.

Summary: Emmanuel Forbes is a true ballhawk CB with great ball skills and anticipation. Forbes translates well to these modern defenses featuring 2 high safeties and employing a variety of Cover 2, 4 and 6. He does have ability in man coverage, but is truly at his best in zone coverage reading the QB and route concept. Further development in an NFL strength and conditioning program will help with his play strength.
