From an early viewing, the 2023 NFL Draft class seems to offer a much deeper group at defensive tackle than in recent years.
The 2022 draft gave us a top-heavy talent pool, including players such as Jordan Davis, Devonte Wyatt, Logan Hall, Travis Jones, and Perrion Winfrey. All of these defenders aim to make an early contribution to their new teams in 2022, however, they were the best the previous draft class had to offer.
From tape study so far this summer, this new crop of talented defensive tackles shows plenty of promise and is an excellent time for teams to start looking ahead at their needs at the position.
The 2023 class is headlined by prospects such as Bryan Breese, Jalen Carter, and Gervon Dexter who all expect to have incredible seasons for their respective programs. Both Carter and Breese are already being considered top ten selections, while Dexter is a projection expected to make a big impact in 2022.
Outside of these three incredible talents, the player who displays as much talent but not as much recognition is Oregon defensive linemen Brandon Dorlus. Despite not putting up elite stats in 2021, Dorlus had plenty of incredible flashes on film that makes him worthy of this praise.
