====================================================================
Man Coverage: Plays a lot of off man. Anticipates route breaks well. Is very physical and grabby throughout the rout stem which may lead to flags at the next level. Has a strong jam at the LOS when pressing. Is best served being patient at the line rather than matching footwork.
Zone Coverage: Very physical and strong in Cover 2. Is comfortable handling deep coverage in Cover 3. Very good at reading the QB, isn’t fooled by eye candy up front. Solid route recognition.
Reaction/Recovery: Doesn’t have much quick twitch athleticism, relies more on impressive anticipation skills. Big wingspan helps in recovery. Reaction speed improves when he is able to see the action in front of him. Will struggle to accelerate and catch up if separation is given.
Long speed: Has necessary speed to carry vertical. Long strider with a track background. His speed is more build up than explosive.
Ball skills: Listed at 6’3 with 33 inch arms. Uses his length at the catch point to get deflections and be bothersome. 6 career INTs with 4 coming in 2022. Was targeted 52 times in 2022 giving up 24 receptions for a 46% completion percentage against him. Would benefit from development locating the ball in the air.
Run Support: Strong player in run support. Comes down to set the edge against closed formations. Will take on pulling guards without hesitation. Shown multiple time against TCU running counter. Will take on blocks, shed and attack the ball carrier.
COD Ability: Transitions well for a player with his long levers. Shows some hip sink when covering comeback routes. Doesn’t have much explosion, but shows some fluidity when it’s time to turn and run.
Awareness: Shows good awareness relating to receivers in zone and anticipating route breaks. assignment sound for the majority of his reps.
Tackling: Is a big CB and tackles like it. Comes to balance, shoulders square and wraps up. Drives feet through contact. Shows effectiveness tackling the body and going low.
Physicality/Toughness: Not a player that will shy away from contact. Embraces the physical nature of the sport. Will take on bigger players and try to bully smaller ones.
