2023 BCS CB Scouting Report
Player: Kelee Ringo
School: Georgia
Year: RS Sophomore
Games Watched: Tennessee 2022, South Carolina 2022, Florida 2022, LSU 2022
Man Coverage: Strong in man coverage. Used in Cover 1 and 2Man often. Track speed allows him to carry vertical routes with ease. 6’2 210 frame gives him the ability to muscle receivers at the line of scrimmage with a strong jam, and the strength to be disruptive at the catch point. Shows the necessary foot quickness to match steps when using soft shoe technique.
Zone Coverage: Has experience in Cover 2 and Cover 3 mainly using a side saddle bail technique. Keeps his eyes in the backfield but still can relate to the receiver in his zone through his peripheral vision. Carries receivers throughout his zone, creating tighter passing windows. Explosiveness is on display when reacting to QB attacking his zone.
Reaction/Recovery: Slow to react to underneath routes. Continuously allows separation on in-breaking and comeback routes.
Long speed: Straight line speed is a strength to his game. Former track athlete and it shows when tested downfield. Can stay in phase with no problem when covering Post and Go routes.
Ball skills: Ball skills are inconsistent. Had a rep vs Tennessee where he ran stride for stride with the WR, easily located the ball and came down with the interception. Against Kentucky and Florida in the same situation defending downfield, he mistimes his jump and allows a big reception. Will need development locating the ball on a consistent basis.
Run Support: Willing to take on the lead blocker as a force defender. Doesn’t shy away from contact. Proactive when triggering downhill, doesn’t just wait for the ball carrier to run into him.
COD Ability: More of a linear athlete. Will struggle with stop/start quickness and vertical to lateral agility. Will need development with fluidity matching when the WR breaks.
Awareness: Doesn’t get confused about his assignment when presented with bunch or stacked receivers. Shows communication pre-snap. Solid route recognition.
Tackling: Takes good tackling angles, forcing the runner back towards help. Has the size to be an effective tackler. Will lunge at times, instead of coming to balance and running through the ball carrier.
Physicality/Toughness: Has an aggressive play style. Doesn’t hesitate to engage when met with physicality. Fights through blocks.

Summary: Kelee Ringo is a high athletic traits type of player. Physically Ringo will have no problems matching up with NFL receivers athletically. Ringo can excel in a defense utilizing a high percentage of man coverage and an aggressive front, where his height/weight/speed gifts allow him to disrupt timing. Also he should be comfortable zone dropping in a Cover 3 coverage scheme.
