League Winner Wednesdays: Week 3

Each week I update the provisional standings for League Winner Predicts 2021. Look at who has become a League Winner, who at who is close to being a League Winner and how the rankings changed from week 2 to week 3.

A quick look at the overall Top 20 before going into a deep dive of each position (QB, RB, WR, TE).

3 new QBs entered the LWP standings in Week 3; Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Sam Darnold, Ryan Tannehill and Jacoby Brissett to bring the total to 22 QBs. Allen led Week 3 standings with 37.22 points.

Going into Week 3, Kyler Murray had a perfect score (12 points out of the possible 12) but slipped up by only scoring 18.54, meaning he still has 12 points after 3 games. He is joined on 12 LWS by Tom Brady (who scored another 25+ point week), but keeps the #1 positional ranking due to the 30+ games. Mahomes rounds off the provisional podium on 10 LWS (scored 22.9 points to get 20+ and a Top 10 in week 3). The other notable player is Kirk Cousins, who is on 9 LWS (2x 25+, 3x 20+ and 2x Top 10).

For closest to the benchmark, Jalen Hurts was 0.80 points away from Derek Carr (who ranked 10th), with Lamar Jackson (19.28) 0.72 points off 20 points and Aaron Rodgers (19.04) 0.96 points off 20 points.

RBs:

6 RBs enter the LWP Rankings in Week 3; Kareem Hunt, James Robinson, Saquon Barkley, Alexander Mattison, Peyton Barber and Giovani Bernard. Najee Harris (#4 from #18) and Zeke Elliott (#5 from #19) are big risers.

Week 3 saw no change in the podium positions, with no one on the podium scoring any LWS (19.4 and #12 in Week 3), Jones (17.6) and CMC (6). Like Week 1, no one scored 30+ points, with Najee Harris top-scoring with 28.2 points. Kareem Hunt (27.5), Zeke Elliott (26.6) and James Robinson (25.4) were the other three to score 25+ points.

Derrick Henry was the only person who got close to a benchmark without reaching it with his 19.4 points (0.6 points off 20 points).

WRs:

6 WRs enter the LWP Rankings in Week 3, up to 34 WRs: Justin Jefferson, Emmanuel Sanders, DK Metcalf, Kendrick Bourne, and DeSean Jackson. Mike Williams (#3 from #10) and Davante Adams (#4 from #25) were the big risers this week.

Week 3 saw Cooper Kupp become the WR1 overtaking Tyler Lockett. Kupp now has 13 LWS after performances of 23.8, 36.8 and 30.6. For the first two weeks, Lockett was the superstar but got injured in week 3 (7.1 points in week 3). Mike Williams is the 3rd guy on the podium after scoring 22.2, 22.1 and 33.2 points in the first 3 weeks. Deebo Samuel drops to 6th (Adams at #4 and Thielen at #5) after only scoring 16.1 points in week 3.

For benchmarks, there were 2 WRs that got close to the 20 point benchmark in Week 3; Chris Godwin (19.6) and Keenan Allen (19.0). Cole Beasley (20.8), Brandin Cooks (20.7) and DJ Moore (20.5) were the receivers close to the Top 10 benchmark set by DeSean Jackson (21.0).

TEs:

2 TEs scored 20+ points in Week 3 and neither of them were the main players for the TE position; Dalton Schultz (26.0) and Tyler Conklin (20.0) were the two players. Gesicki (unranked) scored 18.6 points meaning that Kelce was only TE4.

No changes occurred for the TE position, with the aforementioned Schultz now ranked TE5 and Conklin TE6. Conklin got close to scoring a top 10 performance for receivers (WR/TE), but missed by 1.0 points.
