Sean Rhyan, UCLA

Pass Protection: Rhyan is an athletic and experienced pass protector. He’s quick enough and smooth enough to handle speed rushers around the edge, and his anchor is good enough to handle power. He struggled against inside counters a good bit, due to some oversetting.

Balance: Rhyan checks the box here, but he doesn’t quite sit back on his heels enough for me at times. He’s a little top-heavy and does lunge into blocks a little more than I’d like.

Hand Placement: Rhyan shows good overall hand placement and replacement as both a pass rusher and run blocker. He’s almost always working the chest plate of the defender and has a decent punch.

Power: Rhyan possesses solid power for the position. He can create vertical movement and turn defenders out of gaps. He’s quite good when he can take advantage of angles in the running game.

Football IQ: Rhyan shows a good football IQ. He did a good job picking up blitzes and typically plays within his own skillset without trying to do too much.

Anchor: Rhyan gave some ground in the passing game, but generally speaking, he was stout in this area. He’s able to sink his hips quickly and establish good positioning with little trouble.

Flexibility: Rhyan looks flexible enough to play tackle in the NFL. He can bend with eas ease to handle speed rushers around the arc and does a good job squatting to gain leverage.

Run Blocking: Rhyan is a solid run blocker with scheme versatility. He’s got the movement skills to win in a zone scheme and enough power to succeed in a power scheme. He can be a little unbalanced though.

Movement Skills: Rhyan is a good mover with enough athletic ability to work out in space and protect his outside shoulder. He struggled to work back across laterally and protect his outside shoulder though.

Footwork/ foot speed: Rhyan is good here too. He’s quick into his stance and generally speaking displays good footwork. There’s room for growth, but he’s on the right track.

Summary: Rhyan projects nicely as an early starter at either tackle or guard with good upside for the future. He checks a ton of boxes and doesn’t really have a glaring weakness in his game. He doesn’t have too many standout traits, but he’s an above-average mover, pass blocker, and run blocker most of the time. I’m gonna leave him at tackle, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see a team draft him at guard.
