Sidy Sow, Eastern Michigan

Pass Protection: Sow has long legs and can cover ground in pass protection, however too often, Sow bends at the waist and loses leverage battles.

Balance: He has the core strength to withstand bullrushes head-on, but his lack of discipline and consistent waist bending leads him to be caught off balance

Hand Placement: Sow possesses a powerful initial punch and uses his long arms and strong grip to steer defenders wherever he wants them to go.

Football IQ: Sow identifies pre-snap alignments well but post-snap he can find himself lost on occasion.

Power: A road grader in the run game, Sow can build steam out of his stance and bring his full 335-pound frame into the defender’s chest and follow-through at which point he can either drive them downfield or move on to the second level.

Anchor: Sow struggles to stay low in leverage battles and can be stood up if his matchup gets lower than he does and can pop his pad level up.

Flexibility: Sow’s stiff in his lower half and carries bad weight on his frame, further hampering his overall flexibility.

Versatility: Sow is purely a guard in a power scheme. He doesn’t have the athleticism to fit in a zone scheme.

Movement Skills: Sow’s weight and build hinder his athleticism. He’s an average athlete but doesn’t stand out in any way.

Footwork/Foot Speed: Sow stops his feet too often after the initial contact. When he keeps moving his feet moving he doesn’t appear belabored.
