Top Ten EDGE Rushers of the 2023 NFL Draft (so far)

The 2022 NFL Draft class had one of the deepest pass rusher groups in recent memory, including the first two picks with ten defensive linemen going in the top 50 picks. Although it’s unlikely there will be a repeat year in 2023, there could still be quite a few edge defenders getting drafted early. The 2023 edge group isn’t quite as deep as last year (trust me I’ve watched 25 pass rushers so far), but there are still plenty of talented players to satiate the NFL’s need at the position.

Below are ten players who I feel should be considered the top pass rushers heading into the 2022 college football season. However, as I continue to watch more pass rushers, this list could be subject to change. Additionally, there is a collection of a few players who just missed the cut at the bottom of the list.

1) Will Anderson – Alabama – Tape Grade: 95.7/100

Will Anderson is built different, and there are no three or four ways about it. It’s June, and he is likely the consensus number one overall player in the 2023 NFL Draft class. Anderson displays elite levels of athleticism that translates to big-time plays in both phases of defense.

Glowing language aside, Anderson uses his elite athletic traits in conjunction with sound technical skills to be an effective edge defender. For his age, Anderson displays an incredible football IQ allowing him to be a force multiplier in the run game. He can perfectly read blocking keys and quickly shed off blocks to leverage plays in the backfield.
