Man Coverage: In off man, he shows quick feet and balanced backpedal. Footwork allows him to excel when his movement is tested.

Zone Coverage: Does a good job reading 2 to 1 in zone. Uses  the side saddle technique. Shows good zone eyes.

Reaction/Recovery: Quick twitch athlete. Has instances where he makes a false step but explosiveness allows him to recover and stay in phase.

Long Speed: Explosive player with speed and acceleration. Should have no trouble running with guys on vertical routes.

Ball Skills: Pesky defender. Plays through the hands. Will punch and rip at the football. When in position has the hands to make a play on the ball.

Run Support: Not expected to be a force in the run game due to his size. Listed at 5’9 180. Not put in position to be a force player in games watched.

COD Ability: Low center of gravity allows for rapid and easier transitions. Shows natural hip fluidity and weight distribution.

Awareness: Good eyes reading a route concept led him to a pick 6 vs Texas Tech. Quickly recognized man beaters and passed off responsibility accordingly.

Tackling: In games watched, he will usually throw his body into a defenders legs to bring them down. Good tackler in space. Doesn’t have the size to consistently take on guys up top.

Physicality/Toughness: Feisty player. Brings an attitude to his style of play. Will be pesky and disruptive.

Summary: Tomlinson has high end athletic traits and coverage ability. Size limitations may force him inside, but film shows his ability to survive on the outside as well.
