2022 NFL Draft Sleepers

People define sleepers in a variety of ways. Some define sleepers as the guys that aren’t getting the media buzz or twitter hype. Others refer to the small school player that is being overlooked by everyone. Then there are those who see players that don’t fit the required height/weight/speed criteria but offer all the intangibles as true sleepers. All can be considered sleepers in a certain way.

What I call sleepers are those that are overlooked as general prospects, but have specific traits and skills to fit into a specialized role. A sleeper can be that 7th round pick that may not play a ton of reps, but is the best special teams player, or that RB that may not have the measurables but he’s so instinctual and well prepared that he plays faster than he times.

One of the few certainties in the draft is that there will be someone unheralded that makes an impact at the next level. Here are a few guys I think have that chance.

Josh Johnson WR Tulsa 5’10 179

Josh Johnson projects favorably as a slot WR at the next level. At Tulsa he ran 95% of his routes from the slot or 2/3 in trips. On tape he plays faster than his 4.6 timed speed and shows natural separation ability at the top of his route stems.
