First Step: Bogle has a solid first step into his set but didn’t flash elite athleticism in this regard. His long-limbed frame allows him to eat up turf quickly when working into his pass rush arc but isn’t a consistent threat to beat offensive linemen to a spot in run defense. However, when asked to play from a three-point stance, Bogle looked much more comfortable and quicker to reach his destinations.
Bend: Above average but not elite bend for Bogle. He has enough flexibility to corner offensive tackles which allows him to gain leverage on the quarterback. His narrow angles to the passer hinders this some, however, he displays enough body control to keep his pad level down and flatten his hips.
Hand Usage: Bogle displayed average hand usage overall in both phases of the offenses. He lacks significant pop with his hands to stun offensive tackles out of their stance in addition to inconsistent placement. Despite this, he plays with quickness with his hand usage which allows him to win against slower offensive tackles in run defense.
Pass Rush Plan: Bogle despite his pedigree showed slightly below average pass-rushing ability. He can use speed and length to win around the edge with reasonable consistency but hasn’t formally developed as a pass rusher yet. He’s flashed uses of the stab and a spin move but lacks nuance outside of those aforementioned moves. He has the athletic traits to develop into a more polished pass rusher.
Motor/Effort: Bogle’s motor is never in question when he’s on the field. He shows consistent hustle to the football in run defense and never truly gives up on his pass rush reps.
Lateral Mobility: Bogle is a plus athlete in space. His long strides allow him to move efficiently from gap to gap in the stunt/twist game. When plays flow towards him, he shows good foot quickness that allows him to make decisive hits on the ball carrier.
Run Defense/Anchor: Bogle’s lack of strength holds him back in run defense when setting a physical edge. He can struggle to maintain leverage when plays are coming towards his gap. His arm length allows him to create separation when he extends his arms and sheds against offensive tackles. His vision and football IQ allows him to stay on assignment and chase ball carriers from space.
Athletic Ability: Bogle presents man appealing athletic traits as a football player. He’s not a special straight-line speed type of player but tends to win with long strides however he excels in lateral agility.
Strength: This is where Bogle finds the most struggles as a football player. He’s a very lean player that does not carry much sand in his lower half. This affects how efficiently he can maintain leverage and set a physical edge in the run game.
Versatility: Bogle played mostly in a standup edge role where he was asked to rush from either a five or six technique alignment. He’s seen time in a three-point stance where he’ll spend most of his snaps when he suits up for the Spartans.
